Our Philosophy
Our philosophy for business is rooted in the philosophy of the martial arts. This is long overdue in our industry. We have been bombarded with endless business strategies drawn from other fields and models of business that have hurt our industry as much as they have helped. Martial arts schools are not fitness clubs. Martial arts schools are not daycare centers. We are martial artists and teachers operating schools that deliver age old values, traditions and physical and mental skills and strengths. We need a philosophy of business that fits what we do. It is from this way of thinking that SHAKU has come to be.
As we grow, our licensed schools will continue to benefit from our continually evolving refined systems of successful and ethical school operations, not to mention group buying discounts from suppliers and the priceless real world experience from shared best practices.
What Does SHAKU Mean?
SHAKU is an acronym that embodies the shared values of martial artists, independent of style. It is a creed for our students that we, as school owners, have adopted in the daily practice of operating our martial arts schools.
Self-Discipline
I will apply the discipline that I have learned in the martial arts to achieving success in my school.
Hard Work
I will be dedicated and show perseverance in the pursuit of my school and personal goals.
Attitude
I will show professionalism, confidence, and respect towards my students and my staff.
Knowledge
I will take action to use what I have learned and continue my pursuit of new knowledge.
Unity
We will support one another in achieving our goals. Together we are strong.
